We are all talking about our New Year's resolutions and how we are going to become a better person, make our business explode financially or make our relationships work. But in the past year, have we worked on skills and strategies to make these things happen? Have you taken the first steps or have rushed up the ladder thinking that being at the top will make things happen for you? Trying to change from one day to another is one of the main reasons 99% of the people see the next new year come by and are unable to make a change in their lives.
What ever your case may be, its never too late if you become committed to making things happen for yourself. I have a few things I want to share that I have learned in this past year. Why do I want to share this? Because I think that learning one step at a time at your own pace, will make your learning and time spent doing it worthwhile.
The 3 main things I learned this past year:
- In order to excel in anything, you have to excel in yourself first.
I am in a network marketing company and have been in the company for almost 2 years now. In the beginning, I have to be honest, I thought I knew it all but I knew nothing. I kept sponsoring people in my business and expected them to excel. All I did was complain on how the people werent doing anything and others were just getting by. I got to the point that I got very discouraged but I continued my business because I dont believe in giving up. As time went by, I just kept complaining and assuming that the next person I would sponsor would probably wind up doing exactly what the others were doing and it wasnt a surprise when they did as I thought. Then, I went to a business seminar where one of the founding consultants of the company, Brian McClure said, "if you want to know whats wrong with your business, look into a mirror and you will find the answer." In other words, the reason my business wasnt successful was because I was doing something wrong. I mean people were making thousands, some of them were making millions. It was the perfect timming with the perfect product, I considered myself smart enough and well equipped so why wasnt it working for me? Because I needed to make some changes in the ways needed to make my business a success. You see, I didnt take the time to study the necessary procedures to make things happen nor was I giving my team the support needed to make my business grow. After I've been working on my personal development and time management, I am on the right track. Even though I had a team set up, I am going to have to start from scratch but I know this time it will be a great success. I will keep you posted on how my business is going!
- See opportunity in everyone!
One of my mentors always said, "the person you think will; wont. And the person you think wont; will." This is so true. Everyone should be given the opportunity to make a difference in their lives and the lives of their loved ones even if they dont take advantage of the opportunity. At least you did your part in trying to help them achieve greatness and even if they dont take advantage of the opportunity once you present it to them, hopefully, they will come back in the future and create for themselves and their loved ones, a life filled with riches and abundance. The key is, dont underestimate the potential of any human being!
Dont complain when you dont have the money to pay your mortgage because there are people out there that dont even have a home to live in. Dont complain when your spouse doesn't help you with the choirs because it might have been that were all by yourself without anyone to cuddle with at night. Dont complain when your kid has gotten caught by authorities with smoking some marijuana because unfortunately there are mothers who have their children in prison for worse things and even worse, some mothers dont have their children around anymore. Everything has a solution and the truth is; things could be worse. Always think that you have the power in your hands to make a difference in your life for the better. Make things happen!
Do you want to become good or be the best? I dont know about you but I want to become the best in everything I do! That is why I have refrained from partying, from hanging around the people who dont have the things I want and making every free moment I have count. I read every second I have a chance to do so because that will make me a wiser person, prepared to be successful in every aspect of my persona. My mentor, friend and multi-millionaire, Carlos Marin always says, "dont listen to the advice of a person that doesn't have what you want." In other words, if your friend has a rocky relationship and is trying to give you advice on what to do with yours, do you think you would be a smart person if you take that advice? That is why my circle of friends now consist of people who have the cars I want, the mansions I want and the financial freedom I want for my family and I. Call me self centered or materialistic but all I know is that my family and I deserve all the better things in life and I am not going to stop until we have just that.
What are you going to do with your precious time to make that difference in your life in 2010?
